The Neon Law Foundation was created to promote privacy education and spread awareness for digital rights. Their website, neonlaw.org, is an excellent resource for understanding the importance of data privacy and how one can protect themselves from cybercrime.

What does your organization do?

The Neon Law Foundation is a 501(c) non-profit. We provide privacy education for communities like the elderly, students, and lawyers worldwide.

Why did you pick this problem to solve?

At Neon Law Foundation our externship program offers law students the opportunity to research and write on important privacy law topics such as federal and state privacy laws, instructional blogs on data removal requests, and current privacy litigation efforts for school credit. Our externship program provides practical work experience and hands-on legal training to students. During their externship, students advance in legal research and writing skills while contributing to the growing field of privacy education and advocacy.

Share another Justice Tech org you love, and why.

I think that the courts themselves with their self-help centers are a great source of inspiration.

Which of the JTA’s Mission, Purpose, and Values drew you most to JTA, and how does your work address them?

“Encourage and provide support for innovative approaches that reduce disproportionate impact and inequitable distribution of legal services.” I think that we can play a huge part in that. AI can/should solve many of low hanging fruit however, privacy must remain a centerpiece of all legal tech strategies so we can protect attorney/client privilege in a world where AI renders legal services.
