JTA executive director Maya Markovich was recently profiled in Law.com’s Women of Legal Tech series, highlighting her work in Justice Tech both at JTA and as justice tech executive in residence at Village Capital. Maya noted that JTA was founded to support direct-to-consumer Justice Tech entrepreneurs, act as a centralizing force for the nascent vertical, and advocate for reform to clear the path for these startups to service a massive market of ignored legal consumers, because “Despite the boom in legal tech, everyday consumers are being left out and the access to justice gap is only widening.”

Maya also offered several recommendations for Justice Tech investors and entrepreneurs, from frameworks to proactively combat bias in hiring and code, to data privacy considerations and incubator models.
